This immaculate P-51 basks in the warm afternoon sun at the Watsonville Fly-In. She wears the colors of the 352nd Squadron, 353rd Fighter Group. The 353rd flew 447 combat missions and claimed 330 air and 414 ground aircraft destroyed during the war. More than 8100 of the D-model were produced, contributing to the total of 15,000 Mustangs built for the war. After World War II, the P-51 Mustang served in the air forces of over 55 countries.
