Nothing exemplifies the dedication of a warbird owner like a meticulously polished aircraft. This P-51, ‘Daddy’s Girl’, was a veteran of the Mighty 8th (359th Fighter Group). Piloted by Capt Ray Wetmore, he completed 142 combat flights achieving 21.25 air victories and 2.33 ground victories. This aircraft was sold to Uruguay, then flew with the Bolivian Air Force then went to Canada before finally returning to the US in 1984. The results of a 2001, three year long, restoration were on display at the California Capital Airshow. Nikon D70 w/28-85mm.
