A colorful F-86 Sabre, part of the fine collection at the Valiant Air Command Museum. This Sabre wears wears the livery of the famed Skyblazers aerial demonstration team. The Skyblazers were a USAF demonstration team representing the United States Air Forces Europe (USAFE) from 1949-1962. After the Thunderbirds began flying the F-100D which could refuel in-flight and fly overseas to perform, the need for a dedicated European team disappeared and the Skyblazers were disbanded. The F-86 would be the third of four aircraft types flown by the Skyblazers. First flown in 1949, more than 9,800 Sabres were produced, making it the most-produced Western jet fighter.
