A T-6C Texan “Treetop Flyer” at rest, bathed in twilight after the 2023 Central Coast AirFest. The Charlie version was an AT-6B but with material changes to low-alloy steel and plywood. 2970 were built including those sent to the Royal Air Force as the Harvard IIA. First flown in 1935, over 15,000 of the venerable Texans were produced and they were still being built in Canada into the 1950’s. The last military operator, the South African Air Force, retired their Texans in 1995.
