The sequel to the Nokia G20 has arrived and it comes with repairs on the battery, screen, and camera. None of the upgrades that will make your head spin, no, the company is focused on a reasonable and reliable design.
Reliability is best expressed in the Feature of the Top Nokia G21 – running for three days between costs on the 5,050 mAh battery. HMD makes improvements in power saving mode, making it less limiting. This allows the company to enable the first battery savings rate at 20% (not 10%), at 10% you get the second level of power savings to extend the age of the battery further.
We must note that the original G20 also comes with a 5,050 mAh battery and also promises a 3-day battery life. HMD does increase the maximum charging speed, bring it up to 18W (USB PD 3.0 compatible). However, the phone is only with a 10W adapter in the box so you have to provide your own charger to see the benefits. Another improvement is that HMD managed to make a 5% slimmer phone, starting from 9.2mm to 8.5mm.
The second big upgrade on G21 is a high refresh rate display – LCD 6.5 “runs up to 90Hz, the first for the G-series. The first first for this series is that it can stream Netflix in HD, which is all needed because the screen still has a resolution 720p +. Also, if you want the battery life of 3 days, you must activate adaptive mode for display so that it can drop to 60 Hz to save the battery when 90 Hz is not needed.
Next, the camera. It has a new 50MP sensor for the main cam (G20 has a 48MP sensor). HMD is Mum on the aperture lens and the size of the sensor detail, focuses on super resolution features that increase the details of the image taken. There is a night mode too. All of that is good, but the 5MP ultrawide of the G20 has been lost, leaving only a 2MP macro cam and a 2MP depth sensor. 5MP is not much, but it’s better than not at all.
Nokia G21 does come with a real stronger chipset – Unisoc T606. This 12nm chip has two core cortex-A75 and six A55 cores, enough leaps from Helio G35, which only have eight A53 cores (not A55 events). GPU is Mali G57 MP1.
Also part of the chipset is a cat. 4 LTE modems. The G-Series may already have 5G offers, but this phone sticks to 4G. However, the chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage. This is a dual-SIM phone with a triple card slot, so you can always add more storage with a microSD card.
G21 “Ready for Android 12”, which is another way to say that it arrives at 2021 running Android 11. As part of the HMD software support schedule, it will receive two OS increases (i.e. android 12 and 13) and three years of security fillings . According to HMD, he releases twice more security patches as a competition. By the way, G21 will come with Spotify and ExpressVPN pre-installed (with a 30-day free trial for VPN).
As before, the phone has a fingerprint reader installed on the side. It is also equipped with an enhanced face opening that can recognize you with and without a mask.
