Not many years have passed when a durable, high quality mobile for Indian consumers meant only one thing, Nokia mobile. As per my own personal experience, a Nokia mobile could be dropped in water and run over by truck, and it still worked!
How quickly things change. Smart devices rose up, and innovative, fancy multi-taskers won over the durability and sturdiness that Nokia devices were known for. Even at my own home, three good and efficient Nokia feature phones are lying unused and forgotten in a closet. And even my elderly parents are now using Samsung smartphones.
And hence, the news came as no surprise that the Nokia Devices and Services are to be taken over by Microsoft. According to the Press Release that I got, “Microsoft will purchase substantially all of Nokia’s Devices & Services business, license Nokia’s patents and mapping services.”
