I wish I had updates about my trip to share with you. Sadly, the only thing I can tell you is that my passport is being held hostage by the consulate of an unknown country. But it means good news I swear! The next step of my trip is being held hostage by someone else though and that means it could take a long time. Oh well.
Let’s go back to seiyuu and talk about Toshiyuki Toyonaga!
Known for: Mikado Ryugamine (Durarara!!)My favorite role: Mikado Ryugamine (Durarara!!)
I usually try to choose different roles to showcase in the first part of the article but I just couldn’t. When it comes to Toshiyuki Toyonaga, he will always and forever be linked to my favorite series, Durarara!!
And there is one big reason to this, I discovered him in this anime.
Let’s be honest though, he does an incredible job as Mikado. I just can’t wait until they animate one scene in the new Durarara!! I want to know how he’ll voice it.
What I was trying to say is that Toyonaga can seem at first like he cannot voice a wide range of characters but it’s completely untrue. Mikado himself is a good example of this, mostly because he’s such a multidimensional character.
The second character he voiced I got interested in was Irie Shoichi in Reborn!! I know no one even remembers Reborn anymore but it doesn’t matter. His character in Reborn was another multidimensional character who spoke with a deeper voice than Mikado. If I was asked, these are the two roles I would remember Toyonaga for. Oh and also Mahiro in Blast of Tempest, he sounded really mean in this series.
Fortunately, he is still active, he’s still voicing Mikado in the new Durarara!!. He was also in Kamigami no Asobi and in Bakumatsu Rock. He sometimes even appears in Aikatsu, to my greatest joy.Another thing I find really interesting about Toyonaga is that he was originally an actor. He specialized in musicals.
Just imagine how good this guy is. He can act. He can dance (I’ve seen it in seiyuu events, it’s amazing). He can sing (he seems to be getting popular in this department). He can voice act.
I’m sure he can cook too. Isn’t it the man of your dream too?

Loading ...Last time you agreed with me and picked Nana Mizuki even over Kana Hanazawa. I like it when people agree with me. And it’s right that Nana Mizuki has a wider range of voice and talents. I still hope to one day hear Kana Hanazawa as a boy.
