No Seiyuu No Life: Nobunaga Shimazaki

Posted on the 05 November 2014 by Kaminomi @OrganizationASG

Hello again fellow fans!

I finally managed to tell my boss that I did, in fact, quit. She wasn’t quite happy about it. The plus side is that she doesn’t want to see me so much that she finally allowed me to take all those days off I’ve been asking for.

What’s even better about this is that it means more anime!

Either way and to go back to the topic at hands, my choice of seiyuu for the last two weeks is … Nobunaga Shimazaki.

No Seiyuu No Life: Nobunaga Shimazaki

Known for: Haruka Nanase (Free!!), Tatsumi (Orenchi no Furô Jijô), Ryo Sakurai (Kuroko’s Basketball)

My favorite role: Livius (Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii)

To be honest with you, this choice of mine is surprising me as well.

I feel like Nobunaga Shimazaki hasn’t a big presence in anime in general. He has had big roles, you can hardly have a bigger role than the hero in Free!! but at the same time he does seem more discreet.

It’s a bit strange to be honest, but it’s probably because he hasn’t had roles in which he had to make a lot of noises.

I usually wouldn’t have chosen a seiyuu like this for this very reason. I like my seiyuu to have a wide range of voices and abilities. And yet, it’s this very aspect of his voice that helps him voice any kind of characters and make it fit. He does get a lot of the same type of roles but I am pretty sure it will change soon. After all, he did Livius and Livius was one hell of a character.

The main reason why I have chosen him today is because he is voicing the lead in Parasyte. He is playing many leads this season, including a more hyper character in Ore Twintails ni Narimasu, but Shinichi is different.

As Shinichi, Nobunaga Shimazaki can really shine because his voice follows the development of the character, which brings me to think that a good character really helps a good seiyuu shine.

Anyway, my point is that Nobunaga Shimazaki really deserves to shine more. And I really think he will in the future.

I am quite surprised at your choice of last week. Aya Hirano? Really? I mean, aside from Migi in Parasyte she hasn’t done much lately. Are you still all fans of Haruhi?

Well, I can’t deny that her Migi is a lot better than I expected but still …
