No Seiyuu No Life: Nana Mizuki

Posted on the 14 January 2015 by Kaminomi @OrganizationASG

I’ll insert random stuff here when I’ll think about it. Maybe. But nothing happens in my life!

Let’s talk a bit about Nana Mizuki, shall we?

No Seiyuu No Life: Nana Mizuki

Known for: Ange (Cross Ange), Hinata Hyuuga (Naruto)

My favorite role: Misaki Kirihara (Darker than Black)

I am pretty sure that everyone knows Nana Mizuki by now. She’s a seiyuu who has an incredible amount of fans following her, which is pretty understandable when you think seriously about it.

I had thought she had more or less left the seiyuu world by now, until I looked up and realized she was the one voicing Ange in Cross Ange. Thinking back I knew it was her, it just didn’t completely clicked in my mind.

That being said, I was pretty sure she was concentrating on her singing career. I’m glad she didn’t. She sings incredibly well though, it’s been the second year in a row she has been invited to Kotaku, the great New Year show in Japan. I am in love with her duets with T.M. Revolution but that’s another story. (Still, go listen to Valvrave’s OP if you haven’t already.)

Either way, point is, Nana Mizuki is awesome.

I have known her from quite some time, she’s one of the first female seiyuu I could remember the name of, one of the first I discovered after starting seriously watching anime (if you can call watching anime a serious hobby …).

What I wanted to say is that I first discovered her in Darker than Black, she was the detective trying to get Hei and I still remember her voice in this anime, she was both professional and very emotional. Thinking back, it helped me get into the anime and its characters, especially its characters. I don’t know for you but it always helps me get into a story when the seiyuu are great. Darker than Black was really awesome in this aspect, especially thanks to Nana Mizuki.

I will admit something I am not too sure I am proud of but I have never heard her in Naruto. I only ever watched Naruto dubbed in French and whoever was voicing Hinata didn’t exactly deliver the best performance but that isn’t the subject.

You know, for many reasons I am very glad I am watching Cross Ange, not only is it getting a lot better than expected but it also gave me the occasion to hear Nana Mizuki when it was a long time I didn’t hear her in a major role.

She’s especially good in Cross Ange, Ange changed a lot since the beginning of the anime and Nana Mizuki really did a very good job at expressing it.

She always does.

I still don’t understand how you guys can still listen calmly to Yuuki Kaji. Aren’t you tired of hearing him everywhere?! It’s not that he’s bad, he just happens to get roles that don’t really emphasize his talent, that’s all.
