Right into 3 weeks into its release, No Rest For The Wicked has dropped its first patch this week. Check out the entire patch which includes new content, a number of performance optimization improvements, quality of life updates and more!
No Rest For The Wicked First Patch
Performance
- Improved Sacrament Intro Cinematics, Ship Attack, Phalen Armada, and Prologue Outro.
- Area enhancements for the Mountain Pass Gate.
- Considerable improvements have been made to the loading and unloading of content in order to lower the number of dropped frames and enhance the overall performance of moving around.
- Enhanced effectiveness for combat effects and Ice and Frost enchantment.
- Opponents that have been optimized to initialize more quickly overall.
- Improved off-screen content management and GPU visibility culling in general.
- All of the game’s microphysics items have been optimized.
- Several cumulative enhancements to the CPU’s basic performance.
- Resolved a number of instances where internal faults were causing frequent, fast firing, which would have lowered performance.
- Preloading of regularly used items has been added to further minimize performance decreases during gameplay.
- More timeslicing systems to boost the performance of streaming.
- Pooling System optimization to minimize performance spikes even further.a
- Large number of models and textures have been optimized.
- Many Visual Effects have been optimized.
- Opponent ragdolls that are dynamic and optimally placed.
- Enhanced Character Rendering everywhere.
- Performance enhancements for rendering to improve GPU performance overall.
- Duplicate content was removed and archived to reduce memory consumption.
- Deleted unnecessary elements from every section of the game to save memory.
Quality of Life
- It is now possible for vendors and crafting tables/refineries to retrieve resources straight from storage.
- Instead of waiting until after finishing the “Of Rats and Raiders” quest, housing is now available immediately after finishing the “Sacrament” quest.
- Updated inventory sorting into the following categories:
- Weapons, armor, rings, offhands, tools, housing goods, runes, and item blueprints are examples of gear.
- Recipes, food, and ingredients
- Bombs, vials, oils, and embers are examples of combat supplies.
- Resources: Resources, Jewels, and Parts
- Realm: Realm and Important Things
- The last food or quick item equipped will be saved while leaving and returning to the realm.
- After the last item on the list is consumed, foods with deprioritized ingredients are automatically chosen as the following meal.
- Pressing the button will trigger the Cinematic Skip prompt instead of holding it.
- Some of the controller icons on the Steam Deck are now more readable.
Settings
- Custom key rebinding options have been added for the keyboard (controller rebinding is in the horizon!):
- Rebinding menu keys is not possible at this time.
- Localization is being worked on.
- An extra WASD keyboard control layout and mouse have been added; by default, they are on.
Content Additions
- The Knot, a new home close to Sacrament Cemetery, is for sale for eight silver Tier 3 Armor sets, or “False Ones”:
- False Guardian
- False Harbinger
- False Oathkeeper
- False Remnant
- The Main Menu and Customization Screens now have new character animations.
Loot
- Increased number of slots of all chests and cupboards
- Engraved Hearthside Chest raised from 35 to 40
- Medium Chest raised from 20 to 30
- Small Chest raised from 10 to 20
- Large (and Large Noble) Cupboard raised from 30 to 40
- Medium (and Medium Noble) raised Cupboard from 20 to 30
- Small (and Small Noble) raised Cupboard from 10 to 20
- Nerfed Focus grant on all Focus Vials
- Large Focus Vial decreased from 300 to 150
- Medium Focus Vials decreased from 200 to 100
- Small Focus Vial decreased from 100 to 50
- Ingredients can now be stored in cupboards.
- The size of a weapon and armor shard stack has been increased to 25.
- Enhanced purchase/sale value of all instruments and rings at suppliers
- Withdrawn refined resources from suppliers.
- Every Weapon Oil Recipe is now Tier 1.
- The Dracaena Dumpling now calls for two potatoes and one herb, as opposed to the previous need of one potato and two herbs.
- Enhanced shimmering visual effects
Balance
- Bow attacks now need stamina rather than focus.
- Nameless Pass’s opponent levels have been adjusted.
- The first part of Nameless Pass is Level 8, and the remaining portion is Level 15, assuming that neither the “Of Rats and Raiders” nor the “Servant of God” quests were finished.
- Nameless Pass is Level 15 if the “Of Rats and Raiders” quest is the only one that has been finished.
- The entrance to Nameless Pass is Level 15, and the remainder of Nameless Pass is Level 20, provided that both the “Of Rats and Raiders” and “Servant of God” quests have been finished.
- All Staves have nerfed attribute scaling.
- Reduced Focus Gain for Concentration on Damage Dealt spell
- Enchantment: Nerfed Health Gain for Health on Damage Dealt
- Focus cost for Elemental Throw runes has been raised to 75.
Enemies and Bosses
- Damage for the Grab attack on Nith Brute and the Riven Twins been nerfed.
- The Breaker archetype now has updated timings and slightly altered behavior; after a few attacks, they will now attempt to land more attacks.
- Risen Armored Great Axe patrol animation has been updated.
- Smooth backstabbing animation for Shackled Brutes and Nith Screamers.
- Plague Boomer’s jump attack animation has been refined.
- Polished the Risen Axe Bruiser powerful combo attack.
NPCs
- Improved multiple NPC portraits.
Housing
- Cost of “The Roost” house has been reduced from 20 silver to 14 silver now.
Areas
- Mariner’s Keep, Orban Glades, Black Trench Nameless Pass, Sacrament, Cerim Crucible, and Potion Seller Cave all have better collision, faders, and set dressing.
- Enhanced ship volumetrics and lighting in the prologue.
- Enhanced illumination within Whittacker’s structure.
- The Black Trench’s pipe models and texturing have been updated.
- the sidle from several unnecessary places.
Audio
- Improved ambience at Cerim Gate.
- Sacrament Cemetery audio has been updated.
- Sacrament Slums audio zone updated to feature the river.
- Improved audio for the Sacrament lamps.
- Enhanced voices of female bandits.
- Mastered audio for Nameless Pass Prisoner.
Bounties & Challenges
- Rather than being awarded for the Bounty reward, the plague ichor for the Duo Bruiser Bounty now drops when the second Bruiser is killed.
Tutorialization
- The tutorial screen with the large sidebar has grown in size and now has a scrollbar that changes width depending on the content.
Localization
- Localized text has been added and updated in numerous locations across several languages.
- Support for several missing localized items has been added.
- For multilingual tutorials, there is fixed text overlap.
- Russian font size is fixed.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an exploit where all resources used for refining are recovered after uninstalling a furnace or tanning rack.
- Enemies no longer t-posed when they walked out of the camera and returned.
- Prevented Danos from stealing resources and using them for other improvements.
- Fixed the issue wherein a completed, unclaimed bounty might prevent the activation of a fresh one.
- Corrected incorrect prompts used to replace and abandon challenges and bounties.
- Weapons like as the Ripper, Tongue Splitter, Coral Piercer, Falstead’s Fury, and Brutish Cudgel have fixed attribute requirements.
- Fixed the overly large hitbox on Plagued Boomer’s worm lunge attack.
- Rested bonuses for players who sleep in beds have been fixed.
- Repaired When the Misc area is filled, the Old Leather Tome quest item will not be added to the inventory. It is now a vital item for the realm.
- Fixed Character Avatar still showing the last worn helmet.
- In the prologue, there are fixed locations within the ship where you can avoid collisions and become stranded.
- Orban Glades’ damaged ladders were fixed.
- Correct regen with the Fixed Focus Regeneration enchantment.
- Boomer hitboxes plagued and fixed.
- Repaired Plagued Rat’s vision and response to the player.
- Repaired the huntsman’s tumble upon rolling back.
- Repaired Caged Exile’s incorrect course toward the player.
- The Wind of Death Katana’s Damage Dealt enchantment now has fixed health.
- Even when the player successfully dodges the fixed arrows, they still visually hit them.
- The detonation radius of a fixed fire bomb does not match the visual effects.
- Fixed kill challenges that count non-weapon kills (e.g., explosions, falls, parries, blocks, etc.) and need a specified sort of weapon.
- Character Rim Fixation Indoor lighting that is the wrong color and intensity
- Repaired dropped objects, black relics bag
- Resolved Rattigan’s unexpected appearance in Nameless Pass
- Fixed Finley being attacked by adversaries
- An undetectable portion of the Heavy Bruiser Bandit armor set pants has been fixed.
- In Nameless Pass, a fixed chest is attempting to blend with the earth.
- In Orban Glades, a fixed chest tries to hide within another chest.
- On the map, fixed marker sub labels are displayed for markers without a sub label.
- The ability to look beyond the world at Filmore’s Level 3 area has been fixed.
- The Gordon interior’s missing character lighting has been fixed. The interior candles are now applying light.
- Repaired the burning sails clipped in the prologue of the Risen Attack movie.
- Fixed sky cutting out in the prologue of the Ship Crash movie.
- Fixed Fallen Ones’ voice overflowing with their own.
- Repaired the audio loop for the return rune; Repaired the dancing flowers outside of Caroline’s Inn.
- Repaired the audio of the rain in the War Room and Cerim Crucible.
- Repaired damaged rigging on Noble Leather Cloak.
- Rather than fading, the Riven Twins cinematic’s opening cut-to-black.
- Repaired Rusty Skewer Using the Blood Rusted Straight Sword symbol in Straight Sword.
- The Collect Mushroom Soup challenge’s missing icon has been fixed.
- Fixed a typo in the Inventory tutorial’s word “equipppable.”
- Caroline now only spawns in two locations: one before Inquisition Arrival and one after.
- Removed the extra lamp and lantern from the sacrament.
- Resolved a minor texture artifact on the fabric in the Phalen Church movie.
- Wretched and Crestfallen Archer Tunic adjusted to fit the scene.
