No Real Progress On Race In U.S. The Last Two Decades
These two charts were made from surveys taken by YouGov Poll in 1992 (right after the Rodney King beating) and 2014 (after the murder of Michael Brown).
Frankly, I found these numbers pretty depressing. They seem to show that no progress on race has been made in the United States in the last two decades. In fact, if you look at the numbers for the general public and for Whites, a case can be made that the race problem is worse than it was 22 years ago. Note that both the general public and Whites have become more unrealistic about what is happening to the Black community -- both in their dealings with the police and with the criminal justice system as a whole.
