No 'poo Lifestyle Experiment

By Jayfletch22 @Jayfletch22
Hey everyone!
I have ALWAYS hated my hair. I hate how its too thin, straight, and flat. I recently have been researching the way that Indian women take care of their hair. Indian women have gorgeous lng, thick, dark, healthy hair, that I am so jealous of. I figured that maybe the herbs they use and the way they take care of their hair would atleast make my hair slightly healthier, and hopefully a little thicker.
So I started reasearching and found out that most times, Indian women oil their hair and then rinse it with certain herbs. The herbs have been known to clean hair without stripping it, make it thicker, longer, and stronger. But they fcus mostly on scalp health, because a healthy scalp will produce healthy hair.
I want to eventually purchase some herbs and wash my hair with them, but right now, I am focusing on not using chemical products on my hair. I quit cold turkey, and right now, I am in the "oily" stage. Usually when people stop using chemicals, they go through an oily stage because their scalp is rebalancing itself out. It is used to having to prouce oil in overdrive since chemicals in normal products strip the hair. So basically, my hair is an oily mess.
Hopefully it will even itself out soon!
I have been making a paste of baking soda and water, and rubbing that into my scalp. I massage lightly, and try my best to not make many tangles. When you make a lot of tangles in your hair, since your not using conditioner to detangle your hair anymore, its a little harder to get them out.

Then, I use a spray bottle of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, and a little bit of water as detangler. I spray through the ends of my hair, and detangle with my fingers and eventually rinse it out.

My hair will smell slightly like vinegar until it dries. Thank God it goes away as soon as it is dried!
I will give weekly updates to my no 'poo experiment!
Thanks for reading! Do you ever use baking soda and vinegar to wash your hair? I'd love to hear about any chemical free adventures you have gone through!
