The journey from Australia to Fiji by air from Australia is now much easier and less expensive due to a significant announcement made by the Fijian Government on the weekend, which included the easement of COVID-19’s restrictions.
Since 9 February, travelers from the Travel Partner Countries over the age of 12 years, including Australia, can now use the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) within 24 hours before their scheduled departure instead of using the more costly PCR test to enter Fiji.
The nation also announced the end of the nationwide curfew for the very first time since the beginning of March in 2020.
Also, most vehicles, like taxis, vans, and buses, can operate at total capacity. However, the wearing of masks is not yet required.
Tourism-related venues and establishments that tourists could visit are now operating fully, except bars, cinemas, and gyms operating at 80% capacity.
"To me the beauty of the Fijian people is the most beautiful thing. Everyone is so sweet, so kind and so genuine and that's what touched me. I'm so appreciative to have met such amazing people here in Fiji". – @RebelWilson

The announcement was made possible by Fiji’s high vaccination rate, currently at 90% plus of Fiji’s population above 15 years old, having been completely vaccinated.
The high rate of vaccination is in conjunction with the decreasing amount of patients who require hospitalization, the effective use of booster vaccinations, and the efficacy of the Care Fiji Commitment, which aids in ensuring the safety of guests throughout the day.
The Acting Attorney-General and Prime Minister Hon announced on Sunday. Aiyaz Syed-Khaiyum said the ease of restrictions was a good deal for the economy of Fiji and the restoration of people’s livelihoods.
“With ease in removing limiting restrictions locally, and testing requirements made simpler and more cost-effective, we’ll be able to create more regional economic growth and attract more tourists. This means more businesses, including small and micro-sized companies, more demand, and more jobs for our citizens. It will also further strengthen our progress toward record-breaking economic growth.” Hon. Sayed-Khaiyum said.
Tourism Fiji CEO Brent Hill added that they are trying to eliminate the three-night stay with the industry as more locations are opened that can facilitate the 48-hour in-country RAT.
“This is yet another important announcement regarding travel and tourism to Fiji! This announcement follows on from the recent changes, including testing RATs to be returned to Australia and the reduction of isolation protocols, and nine new countries that are to be added. We’re sure last night’s decision will help make Fiji a more appealing destination for travelers, more affordable, easier, and just as secure. We applaud the Fijian Government for its progressive, forward-thinking, and bold approach. Anticipate hearing the good news about Fiji’s simple and affordable travel requirements for market,” Mr. Hill explained.
