No Other Land- Likely Future Oscar Winner For Documentary Feature

Quick Take: One of the most important films you could watch this year, if you are sighted. It has no audio description, and my wish is that like 20 Days In Mariupol, that we see audio description here at some point. It takes place in Gaza, and points out the dehumanization of the Palestinian people. The problem is, that the English in the film is selections from American news. But, the heart of this a filmmaker from Palestine teaming with a journalist from Israel, and they find common ground to document the atrocities. This is a movie where when you hold a camera to something, it becomes impossible to defend it. Things happen, things are said. one building is being torn down, and a mother cries out that her daughter is still inside as the building is being bulldozed, and an Israeli soldier responds with “So what?” These people are not terrorists. Not everyone who doesn’t look like you, or share your faith, is your enemy. No Other Land is probably my favorite documentary of the year in its boldness, but that context is all provided second hand. I want to experience this film first hand, through accessibility. So, something else will be my favorite documentary of the year, and this will be a what could have been. But, if you are one of the sighted people who reads this, I have a feeling this is going to win the Oscar. For more, check out my video.
