No Man Walks Alone Sale

No Man Walks Alone is a sponsor on this site, but they’re also one of my favorite online retailers. The shop’s founder, Greg – who can be clearly seen above walking alone – simply has great taste. He knows his way around a coat-and-tie rig, but also has a good eye for casualwear. For guys who love Italian tailoring and want to build a weekend wardrobe, No Man Walks Alone is a great one-stop shop.

At the moment, they’re having a 20% off mid-season sale. Just use the code SPRING20 at checkout. The code runs through Tuesday night and applies to anything that hasn’t already been discounted.

Some of my favorite things in the store are from Sartoria Formosa, a small tailoring workshop in Naples that’s famed for dressing some of Italy’s best dressed leading actors during the 1950s and 60s. The shop’s founder and cutter, Mario Formosa, passed away some time ago. Today, his son Gennaro runs the shop. The workshop still mostly does bespoke, but they also make a small ready-to-wear line for NMWA (all made to bespoke standards, but with ready-to-wear patterns).

The cut is distinctively Neapolitan – soft shoulders and chest, with gently sweeping quarters – but is very subtly draped, which I think lends a more flattering silhouette. I love the tan gun club jacket, olive cotton suit, and tobacco linen suit this season. This blue Fresco sport coat would be a staple in any summer wardrobe, and they carry a ready-to-wear make of my custom “summer tweed” fabric run from last year.

The shop has some other great tailored pieces. I really like this tonal navy seersucker suit from Camoshita, for example, which Kyle can be seen above modeling with a seersucker shirt and white Vans slip-ons (great summer shoes, by the way). Additionally, No Man Walks Alone carries an exclusive cut from Eidos – one that’s a touch more conservative than the styles you see elsewhere, but still very modern and stylish. This navy hopsack sport coat would make for a great year-round staple, although I’m more taken by the possibilities with this patterned linen jacket. You don’t see patterned linen often for some reason, but that one looks great.

Other favorites: Christian Kimber’s Melbourne modal-linen scarf, which has just the right shade of brown to go with olive, brown, and navy jackets (Christian captures the color a bit better on his site). Naissance also has some interesting camp collar and terry cloth shirts, if you want something fun to wear for summer. Similarly, this Camoshita polo also looks really good. When I met up with Agyesh from Stoffa last week, he was wearing the same model in navy with his brand’s sharply tailored trousers.

For something more rugged, these tumbled service boots from Viberg would look great with one of those James Grose leather jackets. And this “photographer jacket” from Kaptain Sunshine – a quirky Japanese workwear label I’ve been really into – is the business. Like something straight out of a vintage Banana Republic catalog, back when they were still make safari-themed clothing, or something Andy Warhol would wear.

And finally, if you don’t already have a reliable briefcase, Frank Clegg Leatherworks (a sponsor on this site) makes some great ones. I have this model in a tumbled grain leather and count it as among my favorites. Just a classic design that works especially well with suits or sport coats.

Note, shipping and returns are free. And while No Man Walks Alone doesn’t usually allow returns on deeply discounted end-of-season items, things bought mid-season with promo codes are still eligible for returns if they don’t work out. Well worth a browse.
