Bloomberg Tippers claim the console maker didn't set the specs for the system, but a faster processor with 4K graphics support.
The company would also release a deluge of "big" games to accompany the new model, including in-house titles as well as third-party releases. The strangely quiet schedule for Switch's 2020 release, which revolves primarily around Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the upcoming Pikmin 3 Deluxe, reportedly reflects Nintendo's focus on the 2021 roster.

Nintendo declined to comment on the claims. UDN had originally broken the word of upgrade but only talked about generic upgrades to "image quality" and interactivity.
Nintendo Switch with 4K: what could that mean?
An increase in performance would be easiest for Nintendo and could also make the most sense. While the Switch still wouldn't compete with the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X in purely visual detail, 4K support could fill some of the gaps. Also, more people have 4K TVs than they did in 2017, and they are more likely to buy the Switch, knowing it would make better use of their higher-definition screen.
A souped-up Switch would also adopt a familiar strategy from Microsoft and Sony: keep sales by rolling out an upgrade during the cycle. Much like the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, the 2021 Switch could keep demand up at a time when it may be falling.
Nintendo doesn't hurt right now. Switch sales have been very strong since launch, and the COVID-19 pandemic led to a surge in demand so great that Nintendo was struggling with shortages. However, an update in 2021 could keep sales from fueling as the pandemic wears off and potentially keep the system relevant until Nintendo is ready for a full-fledged replacement.
