Nike and Epic Games Collaborate in Fortnite

Posted on the 21 June 2023 by Jitender Sharma

In a move to expand its presence in the virtual realm, Nike has recently announced a partnership with Epic Games. This decision builds on Nike’s recent collaboration with EA Sports. Nike Virtual Studios is introducing “Airphoria”, an exciting new immersive gaming experience within Fortnite. “Airphoria” lets Fortnite players explore a captivating universe that draws inspiration from Nike’s iconic Air Max sneakers. This virtual environment brings forward design elements from beloved models such as the Air Max 1, Air Max 97, and Air Max TW. It also draws on newer additions to the Air Max lineup like the Air Max Scorpion and Air Max Pulse.

Players can discover it through Fortnite’s Discover feature or they can enter the island code 2118-5342-7190.

That’s not all. Players can purchase the outfits worn by the “Airphoria” characters, namely Airie and Maxxed Out Max, and apply those to their own Fortnite avatars.

This is not the first time Nike has involved itself with the world of Fortnite. Back in 2019, Jordan Brand, a subsidiary of Nike, partnered with Fortnite. It was for a limited-time mode (LTM) event called Downtown Drop. The event presented some fun challenges and some exclusive in-game skins for the players.

Airphoria represents a new, immersive experience for Nike as it amplifies its efforts in gaming and virtual products. We continuously strive to deepen our connection with fans, expand access points to Nike across our digital ecosystem, and inspire a love for sport and play as the digital and physical worlds seamlessly merge,” said Ron Faris, the Vice President and General Manager of Nike Virtual Studios, expressing his enthusiasm for the partnership.

The “Airphoria” adventure has started and will stay live until June 27 at 8 p.m. ET. It gives fans an opportunity to immerse themselves in the dynamic world created by the fusion of gaming, fashion, and Nike’s rich heritage in sneaker culture.

This partnership between Nike and Epic Games establishes the brands’ eagerness to benefit from the merger of physical and digital worlds.
