Night Swim (2024) Review

When the Waller family move into a new home, they think this is the time to become settled in an area. Excited about having their own pool, although that quickly takes a rather horrific turn …

⭐️

In the opening scene the viewer sees a small girl who goes into the pool at night to get a toy boat that her brother had lost, something strange happens and she disappears. We are then brought forward in time to the Waller family looking around a house, and then seeing this house with an abandoned pool and obviously they just need this house!

Ray is a former pro baseball player and had been struggling with health problems and had to retire from the sport. As a family they want stability for Izzy and Elliot, giving them a proper place to live. Eve is doing everything she can in support of her husband and children.

Ray very quickly become consumes by the pool and sees the water therapy as a road to recovery, even though doctors don’t feel that is possible given his conditon. Although his time in the pool seems to be healing him. The rest of the family though have very bad experiences, hearing things and seeing things in the pool and on the side when swimming. All very creeped out by this, a pool party to make new friends will begin to push everything over the edge.

The film does have some jumpy and creepy moments, like you would expect in this genre. Predictable jumps with some rather strange creatures, which actually turned out to be rather amusing rather than scary. The film is utterly terrible though and I am quite happy to know that my next 2024 film will easily be better than this one.

The ending was downright bizarre and it tried to take on a more supernatural turn which just made it all more stupid than what we had seen before that. I guess we can even say it was actually laughable, maybe if it had been a comedy horror it might have been a bit better overall?
