Story: Night of the Caregiver starts when a caregiver Juliet (Sperl) takes a last-minute job to support Lillian (Dietz). It is a remote posting, but the money is too much to turn down. Elsewhere, Detective Eckhart (Cornet) has turned to a paranormal expert for help investigating his mother’s disappearance.
Juliet finds herself questioning whether the two are alone in the home. However, it could be that she is exhausted, although what she discovers is even more disturbing than she could ever imagine.
Verdict on Night of the Caregiver
Night of the Caregiver is a horror thriller following a caregiver that takes a role for the night. However, she finds herself dealing with something unexpected and must fight back to survive. Meanwhile, a detective is searching for answers about his mother’s disappearance.
This is a horror that takes the babysitter dealing with something evil in a slightly different direction. We focus on a caregiver, so the role has more adult responsibilities than the babysitter character we are used to. It works, they pair must create a bit of a bond as the night unfolds. The scares are effective, and the reveal brings out the horror in the story. However, the detective story feels a little bit more loose changed. It felt like there was more to be pulled out of the story or not involved in it at all. Either way, we spend most of the movie with the caregiver meaning you almost forget the detective’s story.
Final Thoughts – Night of the Caregiver is a nice little late night horror movie.
