A team of officers from the Dehiwala Police had taken into custody a Nigerian national on Wednesday with a ganja cigarette and for overstaying his visa.
The Police officers who had gone to conduct a raid in Dehiwala had arrested the Nigerian national at a two storied house with a ganja cigarette in his possession. During further investigations, it was revealed that the 31-year-old Nigerian national was temporarily residing in a house at Dehiwala for over three years after the expiry of his visa.
Investigations also revealed that the man in custody has also been arrested for financial fraud by the Criminal Investigation Department and released on bail.
A top Police officer said that the Nigerian who is unemployed makes a living while engaging in various frauds.
