Nigeria Vs Madagascar: Minnows Displaces Super Eagles To Top Group B

Posted on the 30 June 2019 by Naijaparry

The Super Eagles of Nigeria lost to the Barea of Madagascar two nil in their final Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON ) group game at the Alexandria Stadium in Egypt on Sunday.

Naijaparry reports that Lalaïna Nomenjanahary gave the East Africans the lead in the 13th minute when he capitalised on a misjudgement by defender Leon Balogun.

They took that lead into the break.

The second half resumed and Carolus Andriamatsinoro extended the less-fancied side’s lead in the 53rd minute courtesy of a deflected free kick.

The full-time result means Madagascar go top of Group B with seven points. Nigeria are placed second with six points. The three-time African champions will most probably now meet hosts Egypt – who are expected to top Group A – in the 32nd edition of AFCON.

In the other group game, Guinea also won two nil against Burundi, implying they can still go through as one of the four best third-placed teams.

Madagascar took three points against Nigeria in the final group stage game of Group B, as they booked their first ever last 16 ticket.

This is the first time ever in their country’s history that Madagascar qualifies for the Nations Cup. Or any international tournament at all.

Yet they just beat Nigeria 2-0.

How did Penguins beat Super Eagles?

I’m in tears. Pls someone come and cuddle me and sing me lullabies.
