here's a good mix of interesting topics:NHS Body Contouring, NHS Fertility Treatment and the re-Naming of Countries.
just three things that are irking me this morning.
1) NHS Body Contouring:
why are we, the tax payers and contributers to the National Health Service, paying for OVERINDULGERS to have gastric band surgery and then (potentially) reconstructive Body Contouring i.e. ultra-expensive plastic, surgery for an issue that's not a national health service issue. You eat too much sugary fatty foods and move too little (probably because of your sedantary office lifestyle or chronic fast food indulgences), you get overweight. You all already know this. If you don't, it's time you started LEARNING how the body works and why you're nothing more than a cash cow for the Processed Food and Big Pharma industry i.e., Why should I pay for your lifestyle choices."
2) NHS Fertility Treatment:
some combinations of people just aren't supposed to have children, genetically. Fact. Some people just aren't supposed to have children, genetically. Fact. Certainly, the younger a person is when they have their child, the more likely they should be to be able to 'share that child's life' as they're growing up, than an OVER FORTY mother. It's just logical that working mums are finding out that, "Career (for a worthless Corporate Slavedriver) shouldn't come before THE SANCTITY OF LIFE." Make a real choice, rather than burdening the already-over-burdened by the overweight/uneducated NHS.
3) the re-Naming of Countries:
woah, are you serious? Were does this fit in with the above concerns about the NHS? Well, maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. But it's a fact, we RENAME FOREIGN COUNTRIES. All countries do this. But is it right?
France (english) = La France.
Germany (english) = Deutschland.
Spain (english) = Espagne.
Japan (english) = Nihon.
Why do we do this. Why do NATIONS do this, as it's not just UK who rename foreign lands. Why not FIND OUT WHAT THE COUNTRY'S NAME IS and USE THAT? It's not hard. Go to the Foreign Office of Any Country and discover which name they use 'themselves'. And use that.
Why don't we just adopt this scheme, say, "I've just been to La France for my Easter break and in Summer I'm going to Nihon, four days in Kyooto." Why don't we just get sensible, i.e. less jingoistic, less racist.
I guess it fits in, because it's a REAL EDUCATION issue; you know, rather than some slickly cynical Advertising Copy.
