Oldeus has been accused of copying an animation from a mobile gacha game called Arknights.
Oldeus is a Web3 brand of NFTs consisting of manga-inspired tokens and characters that clients can buy. The accusations emerged following a series of tweets, including a trailer, on Oldeus Twitter account. The trailer includes a brief 21-second animation of some of the NFT project’s characters.
Users were quick to note the trailer’s strong parallels to the animated cutscene from Arknights’ Roaring Flare, which shows Amiya evolving into a Guard Class operator.
Also, according to a Reddit post on the Arknights subreddit, it appears that many members on the Oldeus Discord server say that the reveal trailer and the Arknights cutscene are similar since they were supposedly created by the same animation company.
Oldeus’s Twitter account has also written a thread in response to this allegation, in which they claim that they did not intend to steal Arknight’s trailer but instead to take inspiration from it and reproduce it. The Twitter page also shared WIP files in the same post to show that the trailer was made from scratch.
