Pop, hip-hop, and country come together at the home of the Cubs

This morning, a stadium tour featuring the Backstreet Boys, Nelly, and Florida Georgia Line was announced, and fans of these three acts are pretty thrilled.

The tour is hitting some of the largest amphitheatres in the country, such as Denver’s Pepsi Center, Boston’s Fenway Park, Anaheim’s Honda Center, and Dallas’ Starplex Pavilion. Among them is a stop at Chicago’s Wrigley Field on August 12.

Florida Georgia Line, the country music pair that hails from both states respectively, has risen to fame since 2010. Recognized by the CMT Awards, the American Music Awards, and the Billboard Music Awards has put them on the map as one of the most successful country music acts of late. Hits like “H.O.L.Y” and “God, Your Mama, and Me,” of which the latter features the Backstreet Boys, have hit the charts since the release of their album Dig Your Roots in summer of 2016.

Known as one of the most iconic names from the 90s boy band era, the Backstreet Boys formed in 1993 and became a worldwide phenomenon from 1995 – 1999. They’ve embarked on many world tours and have received multiple awards during and since the peak of their career. Their “Larger Than Life” residency in Las Vegas takes place this year.

Nelly, the St. Louis rapper who rose to popularity in the early 2000s, is known for hits like “Country Grammar,” “Dilemma,” and “Hot in Herre,” and has appeared in many films and TV spots throughout his career. He has collaborated with many artists, including country stars like Tim McGraw and even Florida Georgia Line on their song, “Cruise.”

Wrigley Field is establishing itself more and more as a multi-purpose venue, with an increase in concerts this year compared to previous ones. In 2017, the stadium will also host Jimmy Buffett, Lady Gaga, Green Day, and Dead & Company, among others.
