After using up a lot of almost-empty jars of paint to begin this new abstract painting, the canvas looked very drab to me with its dull grays and magenta. I began this painting session by drawing frenetic lines in white and black to add some energy. With a palette knife, I flattened some of the black lines to spread out the color.
Next, I chose two green mixtures--a light emerald and a darker green. With a brush, I loosely added the greens in mostly vertical swaths across the canvas. Then I painted a pale apricot in the same manner, very loosely. Finally, I drew more black lines, outlining some of the small sections of color.
This painting looks more active and vibrant to me now, but it's not ready for my signature.
Canvas #155, 40" x 30" acrylic on canvas.
