Next Painting Session on Abstract Floral

By Abstractartbylt @artbylt

The first thing I did on this abstract floral painting was to paint over the blue background with a light green thinned with water and gloss medium. Since this process covered over the leaves and vines I had painted in, I repainted them with a dark green.

Then I decided I needed to simplify the colors in the petals.  Using a palette knife, I covered most of the petal shapes with their original colors:  light magenta and brilliant purple.  I left some highlights and shadings, but covered most up.

I then decided I wanted the buds in the middle of all the flowers to be the same dark color, Prussian blue, so I filled those in.

In my last step, I drew Prussian blue lines roughly around the edges of the purple petals and alizarin crimson lines around the magenta petals.
