The Plumpy Duck is new on the bill at the Bowfield Hotel
Unlike the pun above, the new restaurant as The Bowfield Hotel & Country Club in Howwood, Renfewshire sounds great. A new restaurant called The Plumpy Duck has opened for business as part of a £1.5million redevelopment programme which also includes The Stables Bar.
The newly opened restaurant is a completely new addition for the Bowfield Hotel, while The Stables is a refurbishment and refit of an existing bar.
The dark wood, copper lighting and exposed brickwork give a cosy intimate feel. There are also some large booths which allow for couples and groups to have a little more seclusion. Chocolate brown leather sofas and high-backed armchairs give a relaxed sitting room vibe.
The new restaurant, kitchen and refurbished bar is the first phase of the development to be completed. Phase two has already started and is due for completion at the end of September. This second phase includes an extension to the existing spa facilities. This will mean the addition of seven individual treatment rooms, together with a new relaxation area which will accommodate six beds and take advantage of the private seclusion of the hotel and stunning countryside views.
There will be an internal sauna with a glass wall, where you can enjoy the view and still feel warm dry inside. For those wanting to experience the fresh air - there's an external Jacuzzi. This outside Jacuzzi will be large enough to comfortably accommodate 10 people and will be protected with a roof over the top. It will feel like a total escape from the city as the quiet seclusion gives way to the amazing views over the hills and beyond.
