New York Fashion Week Street Style Trends

By Jewelrygal @1928jewelry

During New York Fashion Week, I think some of us can agree to the fact that the real show happens on the bare streets! With no style reservations whatsoever, that’s part of what makes it so exciting. Whether it’s a platform shoe with a furry mane to look like a horse or bursts of neon from head to toe, pretty much anything goes and you’ll be sure it gets covered by the fashion press. This year, color blocking, plenty of citrus (especially, tangerine since it’s the color of the year) and bracelets were piled on with no limits. The accessories and jewelry were abundant, which is always good news! ;) .

1). Bracelets

A pop of color always brightens up a drab day. If you’re wearing monotone or neutral colors even in your bracelet stacks, pump up the accents and add on a bright bangle, earrings or clutch to your outfit!

2). Bib Necklaces

The trend used to be statement necklaces worn over low-slung or v-neck tops to rest on bare necks, but now it’s all about wearing it under the collars like a man’s tie, over crew-cuts and over turtlenecks (I especially love how the model wore her cameo bib necklace). Check out 1928′s bib necklaces here!

3). Elegant Clash of Textures

Lately, we’ve been seeing the trend of different textures being combined in dresses and coats, namely with leather and wool, cotton, or other fabrics. Jessica Alba shows us how it’s done with a chic turquoise Michael Kors number designed with leather detailing on the top. British Elle Beauty Editor sports a coat with leather sleeves, making it appear like she’s got the edgy layering skills down pat.
