New York Fashion Week is not just about the fashions walking down the runways, in between the continuous fashion shows, editors and VIP guests get to enjoy some relaxation time between shows (some have enjoyed it in lieu of shows). Dashing from show to show can certainly take a toll on the body and this has birthed lounges that cater to the special needs of the social media tethered. A place to refuel, recharge and learn about products.
Birchbox Local
Birchbox created a racing striped haven across from Milk Studios that offers the comforts of free candy (a lot of candy!), makeup retouching, blowouts, manicures, complimentary products samples, neatly wrapped up in their signature brown box, and a place to recharge your gadgets.
If you didn't get a bag anywhere else, you could get a Cynthia Rowley-designed tote at Birchbox, loaded with things like Origins Modern FRiction and bags of Swedish Fish. Free wi-fi and comfy couches created a place to network and update your twitter feed and blog.
Technostyle at Bumble and bumble
Technostyle Lounge, held in the cavernous Bumble and bumble space, was a showcase for new brands like Just Soles (online high end shoe society, where you can rent, buy, or just stare) to pitch to the uninitiated. New sample supplier, Pinch Me gave away Clear shampoo and conditioner, Bullet pocket acne aid, and a full sized bottle of OPI nailpolish all in a cute blue box. There was even a chocolate bar from Mount Sequoia Granola! Local restaurant, the V Spot provided vegan empanadas.
Gansevoort Hotel
The Gansevoort Hotel offered thir rooftop to the weary fashionistas who needed a place to rest and partake of complimentary coffee and pastries. Spectacular views and free wi-fi compensated for the lack of samples or candy.more Lounge coverage coming soon.....
