New (Vintage) Cabinet and Spring Cleaning Challenge!

Hi everyone!  Ever since Erin blogged about this cabinet and I visited it at her shop, I’ve been smitten with it.  I’m happy to say it now lives with us (thanks Erin!).  It’s a Broyhill Brasilia cabinet that Erin painted a portion of.  I never would have thought to paint parts of it, but I that’s actually what reeled me in (sorry for the grainy photo–I took this as the sun was going down).  I convinced Ryan that we “needed” it because of all of the storage it provides.  To prove my point I promptly ran around the house putting all of the chotchkies I knew he could probably live without seeing on display every day into the cabinet.

I plan on using the storage on the bottom of the cabinet for the art and project supplies that I always seem to have strewn around the house.  Which brings me to the second topic of the post–the Spring Cleaning Challenge!

So here it is–the Spring Cleaning Challenge:

Part 1: In June my friend Shelby (hi Shelby!) and I will be having a “Home Decor” sale at her house.  Shelby throws a mean garage sale (we had one together a few years ago) and she and I both have lots of house-related items we’d like to get rid of.  So the Home Decor Sale is a great motivation for me to weed out, organize and stream line.  Time to reclaim the basement!

Part 2: In the next couple of months I’m going to focus on finishing projects I’ve already started (like the 1/8th progress on our Ferm Living dining room wallpaper), revamping things I already have sitting around the house (repurposing frames, getting art on the walls, using existing fabric I’ve collected), and doing more sentimental projects like getting our wedding photos and vows framed (we wrote them ourselves), using more vintage family photos for art projects and finding ways to honor some of our family heirlooms in our every day living.

There, now that I’ve put it in writing it has to happen!  Wish me luck, and let me know if you have any spring cleaning projects of your own going on!

XO,

Heather

P.S. For fun can you spot the orange and white dog in any of the photos?
