Hillary Clinton said this weekend that she won't be making any decision on whether to run for the Democratic presidential nomination until the end of this year. But she will be going on a tour to promote her new book -- and that should suffice to keep her name before the public for a while.
In the meantime, a new survey was released that showed Hillary is still very popular with the general public. It is the ABC News / Washington Post Poll, which was done between May 29th and June 1st of a random national sample of 1,002 adults, with a 3.5 point margin of error.
The survey showed 59% of the public approved of the job Hillary did as Secretary of State. And when the survey asked about her qualifications to be president, the numbers were equally as good. About 67% said she was a strong leader, while 60% said she was honest and trustworthy, 59% said she had new ideas for the country's future, and 55% said she understood the problems faced by ordinary Americans. The survey also showed she has a double-digit lead over the most popular GOP candidates.
When only Democrats were surveyed, it showed Hillary still enjoys a prohibitive lead over all other possible Democratic candidates (even though 55% of Democrats thought it would be good for someone to run against her in the primaries). I disagree with that 55%. Personally, I think it would be just a waste of time and money for any Democrat to run against Hillary in 2016.
