The newly appointed Youth and Sports Minister Thenuka Vidanagamage will continue sport development and his first task will be to appoint a National Sports Council today (19).

This is a very challenging period and I have to look after both Youth and Sport Ministries. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has requested me to take up this responsibility at this difficult time and hope to give off my best, said The newly appointed Sport Minister. Earlier he was the State Minister of Rural and School Sports Infrastructure Improvement and focused more on rural and schools sport activities. He was very familiar with the Sports Ministry activities during the last two years.

Thenuka Vidhanangame is the Sri Lanka’s 19th Sport Minister. He was elected as the Badulla District MP for the first time in 2010 and once again he was elected as a MP in 2015 and 2020 from the same district while for the first time he was appointed as a state Minister in 2020 and is now promoted to Cabinet Minister of Youth and Sports.
