If there’s one month that I really enjoy in the fall, it’s October. I love seeing the rich vibrant colors of the falling leaves. Or taking a drive or hike in the mountains to enjoy the beautiful landscape alive with color! Or stopping at a local restaurant to sit in front of a fire and wrap my hands around a cup of hot cocoa or a glass of warm cognac. Those are things that make me look forward to autumn.
Because I enjoy this month more so than any other month of fall, I’m starting a new series just to show my appreciation of it. Every day, well almost every day, I’m going give you some reasons why you might enjoy it just as much. See what I did for yesterday’s post.
I came across this poem, and it encompasses my feelings so beautifully:
“October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.”
- George Cooper, October’s Party
Isn’t that an enticing picture? I just love the colors and the glow from the sun peeking through the trees.
I hope you enjoy this “why I love October” series as much as I’m enjoying making it.
Simone
