Wtf? If someone had asked me back in 2006 when there were a hell of a lot of fad indie lad rock bands around- Automatic, Ordinary Boys, Hard-Fi etc whether the god damn FRATELLI’s would survive to see the next decade I would’ve assumed you were speaking in rhetoric.
Chelsea Dagger was a song that wouldn’t seem to die despite being everything that was wrong with shouty hook reliant guitar bands in the middle of the last decade, it’s still around today and so are these guys.
Now, I heard a new song by them last year (halloween blues) and it blew my mind. It was brilliant. This is why I decided to check this one out and it’s even better. I was doing the washing up at the time and I was so struck by it, well… I stopped doing the washing up.
I decided to look at their wikipedia entry to see what the hell had changed them from whatever label you would have labelled them and the shitty, oh so shitty kaiser chiefs to what they seem to have become. I don’t know or care so much but whatever they did during their hiatus from 2009-2012 it worked a treat.
The only criticism i have is that Tom from the Enemy is probably considering covering their new material but that’s not their fault.
