Another week, another new music blog post… here goes!
Continuing along the path laid by their last album “All Hail Bright Futures”, ASIWYFA are releasing their 3rd album, “Heirs”. I’ve seen less than favourable reviews of this, basically saying they’ve done it all before, among other things. Well, I like it. I like it A LOT. OK, so it’s using a similar formula to the last album – who cares?! It works! It sounds alive and dynamic, intricate and frantic. On top of that, the fact that this band frequently receive such incredible critical acclaim following live shows is a big deal, and they are still on my “to see” list. It’s a thumbs up from me!
I have literally just stumbled across Rose Windows this very morning, and in complete honesty I really needed this. I’ve been feeling somewhat despondent about new music of late, so have been waiting for a band to come along and brighten up my days! However, it is entirely bittersweet, as the release of their self-titled second album coincides with the fact they’ve decided to call it a day! Remaining positive; the music is glorious, fuzzy, imaginative and timeless. Yep, right up my proverbial street on which I continue to stumble…
