Modern hip hop has came a long way for better or worse. With the internet booming with infinite ways for artist to be heard, the pool of talent has diminished. Hailing from right outside of the nations capital is Maryland’s own Awthentik. Awthentik brings a fresh approach with a recognizable flavor from the “Golden Era” of hiphop. Drum Samplers, records, vintage synthesizers and miscellaneous grit make up the sound from the basement of Maryland based Rapper, Producer, and Engineer Awthentik. Front Man for hiphop band The FiF, Awthentik has been pushing musical boundaries in hiphop since as early as 2005.
Awthentik has worked with the likes of Dead Prez, Ras Kass, and performed with the likes of Talib Kweli, Slum Village, 9th Wonder, Nottz, illmind, Capone and Noreaga, Mobb Deep, and Pharcyde to name a few.
