New Format for Abstract Painting

I used to paint square canvases only, branching out to horizontal and vertical.  But in this new abstract painting I experimented with a tall thin shape, a canvas 48" high by 8" wide. Typically this size canvas might be used in a diptych or triptych, but I am making them to stand alone (not that one can't hang two or more together). 

I'm not sure how the overall composition or "design" will work in this format, but I'm experimenting to see what might.  Here's my first effort:
