No need to adjust your monitor! The Poisoned Martini has undergone a renovation.
With so many advances in web design—even in just the few years since launching this site—it seemed time to take advantage of the possibilities and the flexibility these designs might offer. Selecting a new theme, however, proved a daunting task with so many to choose from.
I knew I wanted a theme that gave prominence to the title; several designs seemed to shortchange the title, making it appear insignificant or nearly invisible. I also wanted to be able to maintain a similar color scheme and some elements I’d been previously using. That made the need for a flexible design important.
Ultimately, I updated the site using Mimbo Pro, a premium theme offered through WordPress. Previously, I made use of the Motion theme. This new magazine style allows for several new features—not all of which have been implemented yet—and gives new life to some older posts that would normally be buried pages back in the Archives.
There’s still a little more work to be done though as I learn the ins and outs of the new design. So as they say, “Excuse our appearance…”
