Cadbury's PR recently offered to send me some of their new Oat Crunch bars to sample, and how could I say no to that?! The bars arrived promptly, but bizarrely when I opened the box they were all dusty and coated in oats. At first I thought one of the bars must have got damaged in transit, but no, those jokers at Cadbury had put actual oats in the box. I suppose it beats bubble wrap!
"Give elevenses a light makeover with new Cadbury Dairy Milk Oat Crunch and unwrap joy in your mid morning break. A perfect accompaniment to any cuppa, this mini oat filled bar is set to give you a fresh, wholesome boost taking you right through to lunchtime" - Cadbury Press Release.
The bars weigh 30g, containing 150 Calories and are described as "Milk chocolate with 2 biscuits sprinkled with oat flakes". They're similar in design to the Dairy Milk with Ritz and LU Cookies, as well as Bahlsen Pick Up. Opening the wrapper, I was met with a very strong oaty biscuit aroma - I couldn't wait to tuck in!
The bar can be split down the middle, making it ideal for sharing (according to the press release) but let's be honest, who is really going to share this?!
I split the bar in half anyway, so you can see the interior. Then promptly ate both pieces!
It tasted very delicious; the biscuit had a lovely malty flavor which was complimented nicely with the oats, making it feel a tad more wholesome. The biscuit wasn't overly sweet but had a nice balance of sweet and savoury flavours. The Dairy Milk filling added most of the sweetness, making it very comforting and indulgent.
Overall, this is a nice addition to the Dairy Milk range and very moreish. I can't see anyone sharing one of these though...more like scoffing several in one go!
