Houston Police had told the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) Trayvon protesters and the counter-protesters on the other side of a Houston street, to stay on their respective sides, but once the two groups saw each other, the NBPP, being the thugs they are, decided to try to cross the street to confront the counter-protesters.
At one point a police officer leaned down to Quanell X, who was leading the NBPP protesters and begged him "Please don't do this. I'm begging you not to do this."
