In the last of my tall canvases (10" x 48"), I worked with acrylic in a more expressionist, painterly style. First I painted swaths of burnt sienna, cadmium yellow, cadmium red deep, and prussian blue. While these colors were still wet, I filled in the spaces around them with titanium white, blending as I went. Next, I added raw umber and black for emphasis, continuing to work the colors together, adding more paint as necessary, until I got the loose, painterly, expressionist feeling I was looking for.
