Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak recently backtracked the registration plans that must have allowed the tech companies to form innovation zones anywhere in the state, reports from Nevada Independent. But instead of allowing the tech companies to create their local governments, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak said that he is turning his own idea into the proposed study.
Less than 40 days remaining in Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak legislative session and COVID throwing extra logistical and technological hurdles, there is no proper time for addressing the concerns from key groups and all the agencies like tribal leaders, water authorities, environmental groups, etc.
Sisolak says that innovation zones are one of the bold proposals for the state and this deserves more attention and discussion. In addition, he says that I know there might be so many questions from legislators, stakeholders, and Nevadans and I definitely ensure that the questions will be discussed and answered so properly. Sisolak is trying to create a joint committee with his own staff and budget and will definitely submit the findings and recommendations by December 31st, 2021.
According to the rest of the proposal, the Nevada legislature could vote on any draft and the finalized bill will be prior to the 2023 regular session. This is going to be the session that will usually start at the beginning of February in 2022. The starting of commission is going to depend on how many processes the special joint committee from now to the end of this year. There are many issues that need to be sorted out properly before any headway could be made on such a dystopian-sounding project. Nevadans will definitely handle everything properly, so just wait till the end of this year.
