The light-hearted spin-off to the original To All the Boys franchise, “XO, Kitty”, had a spectacular landing on Netflix racking up more than 72 million viewing hours in the first week of its release (72,080,000 hours to be exact). Over the first three weeks, the series has amassed 165.69 million viewing hours across the globe with overwhelming success in Asia and Northern Europe.
Considering its success, Netflix’s decision to renew the show did not come as a surprise at all. In fact, if you look at the completed viewing equivalent (CVE) data, i.e, the viewing hours divided by the show’s runtime, you’d have a near accurate idea of how many people have watched it. Over the course of the last three weeks, around 32 million people have finished watching the series. Those stats are better than shows like FUBAR, Sandman, and The Recruit.

Kitty, a teenage matchmaker, thinks she knows everything there is to know about love, but when it is her own heart in the line, she realizes that relationships can be very complicated. She moves across the world to meet her long-distance boyfriend. Things don’t work out as you’d expect. A web of emotions and people behind them that moves the story forward.

There is actually a lot to tell in season 2 of XO, Kitty. It is not a forceful renewal at all as there are multiple open ends in the story as if waiting to be tied up in another season.
There was a gap of 14 months between the commencement of filming and the release of the first season. Going by that standard, we can expect the show to hit Netflix in August or September next year considering filming starts this month itself.
