Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynolds) will be joining the James Brown bio-picture Get On Up. Deadline reported yesterday that Nelsan has been cast as Bobby Byrd, a longtime friend and musical collaborator of the musician. Actor Chadwick Boseman will be playing Brown. The role of Bobby Byrd is a significant role after James Brown.
Get On Up will also have the involvement of Imagine Film’s Brian Grazer and Mick Jagger of Jagged Films who are producing the film together. Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer will also star in the film. Production begins next month in Mississippi.
