The Indian poultry industry was actually facing a significant crisis in the early 1980s. The selling price of eggs fell below the production cost at that time. This has led to a complete disaster in the poultry industry.

As a result of this crisis, poultry farmers were forced to shut down their operations due to heavy losses as they were not able to sustain their business.

A group of poultry farmers, supported by Dr. B. V. Rao Ji, Ch. Jagapati Rao Ji, and others, embarked on a nationwide journey to meet poultry farmers and traders, organizing over 300 meetings.

Their main objective was to unite poultry farmers across India under the slogan of “My EGG My Price.” After tremendous effort, poultry farmers came together to form a united organization that would facilitate poultry farmers and traders in determining egg prices. Later it became NECC.

NECC egg rates are used all over India to declare egg prices and all mandis follow these rates to do business.

In May 1982, the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) was formally registered and began declaring egg prices. The NECC played a significant role in improving the poultry industry by staying connected with poultry farmers and conducting various support operations, consumer education programs, egg promotion campaigns, marketing and research initiatives, and rural marketing development activities.

NECC also offers educational programs to poultry farmers, hence it is the primary organization in control.

India is the third-largest producer of eggs, with a daily production of 22 crores (220 million) eggs.

China ranks first on the list with a daily production of 130 crores (1.3 billion) eggs, followed by the USA at second place with a daily production rate of 28 crores (280 million) eggs.

India is on the verge to become 2nd latest egg producer. The industry is not much supported by the government.

With the increasing demand for eggs, the Indian poultry industry is growing at a rate of 8 to 10% per annum.

Recent surveys indicate that India has a per capita consumption of 60 eggs, while the figures for the USA and China stand at 290 and 300 eggs respectively.

Hence India’s export potential is huge in this market. The government just needs to channel it in the right direction.

With only 60 eggs consumed per capita, the Indian poultry industry holds great potential for future growth. Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are the leading states in egg production, while Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal are considered major consuming states.

Poultry farming is considered a highly profitable business that offers significant returns on investment. It can be started with minimal investment and developed in a short period.

Egg rates are determined on a daily basis by the NECC, and poultry farmers and traders rely on accurate egg rate information. Egg Rate Today provides a list of egg rates sourced from the NECC, offering farmers and traders the most accurate details on the current egg rates in India.

We are the leading website providing up-to-date information on egg rates in the country and the data is updated in real-time approved by the NECC.
