With the help of this feature, users will now be able to easily transfer their personal data from a computer or laptop running on Windows operating system to an Android phone. For your information, let us tell you that the Nearby Share feature was released in the year 2020 for Android devices.

Google According to the official blogpost, the company said that the Nearby Share feature was introduced on March 31 for beta users in some regions. This is an easy way to share data. Now this feature has been rolled out globally.

What is Nearby Share feature?

This Google feature works like Apple’s AirDrop feature. With the introduction of this feature in the Windows platform, users will now be able to directly transfer files from their PC to Android devices with a single click. In addition, users will also be able to send data from Android to Windows-based devices. Earlier users were only able to transfer data from Android to Android.

This feature will work on devices equipped with these requirements

According to the company, the Nearby Share feature will work only if the user device is equipped with the requirements mentioned below.

  • Computers running Windows 10 and above
  • Android phones running Android 6.0 and above
  • Bluetooth of both devices must be turned on during file transfer
  • Both devices must be Wi-Fi or ethernet enabled
  • At the time of data transfer, the distance of both the devices should be 16 feet or 5 meters.

According to the media reports that have come in the past, the company can bring the slider feature with the update of Android 13 QPR3 or Android 14.

Reports further added that earlier an ADB command was spotted in Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1. This showed that separate sliders were added for ring and notification on the platform. Also, separate sliders were seen for media, call and alarm.
