It’s official. NBC has renewed Parenthood for one final hurrah. The fan favorite will do another 13 episode season next year, its sixth and last cycle. The show was in heated negotiations with its cast, after trying to cut costs, and cutting the amount of episodes each actor would actually appear in to 9 episodes. The cast refused to sign new deals, and a compromise was reached. That means each actor is likely appearing in more than 9 episodes, but not all 13 episodes next season. I would guess 11, but I’m not sure.
Parenthood isn’t the only show entering a “final lap” next year. Amy Poehler’s Parks and Recreation will end after next season, its seventh season on NBC. Also, The Mentalist’s order is said to be its last, and TBS just renewed Cougar Town for a final run. And don’t forget that Glee will wrap its six season run next year.
