NBC Desperately Seeking Mariana Klaveno

True Blood's Mariana Klaveno

Mariana Klaveno is in high demand these days. Since her role as Lorena on True Blood was staked, Klaveno has bounced around on TV shows and movies, and now NBC is pursuing her to play Lily Munster on the Munster’s reboot, Mockingbird Lane. However, according to DEADLINE, Klaveno’s deal is contingent on her being released from an ABC TV movie that just completed, Devious Maids. Even though Klaveno has just a few lines, in light of the project’s possible move to Lifetime, Devious Maids producer ABC Studios has so far refused to release the actress. Rumor has it that NBC is even willing to let Klaveno recur on Devious Maids in exchange for securing her as the female lead on Mockingbird Lane. But, as of now, Klaveno’s Lily Munster fate is resting in the hands of ABC.

Written by Bryan Fuller and to be directed by Bryan Singer, Mockingbird Lane is described as a reinvention of the 1960s sitcom about The Munsters, a family of “monsters” — vampires, werewolves and Frankenstein, and their “plain” cousin — that will feature striking visuals in the vein of Fuller’s ABC dramedy Pushing Daisies. Jerry O’Connell plays family patriarch Herman Munster, who is married to Lily, a vampire, with whom he has fathered a 10-year-old boy, Eddie.
