Julius Erving, who is known in the basketball world as Dr. J was admitted to the hospital over the weekend, and has since been released.

Hall of Famer Julius Erving fell ill at the 76ers game Friday night and was taken to a hospital.
Erving attended the game and rang the ceremonial Liberty Bell before tipoff. The dunker, more commonly known as “Dr. J,” was honored by the team to mark 35 years since he threw down his famous cradle dunk against the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to a statement on Dr.J’s Twitter account from his management team, he was released after undergoing a comprehensive medical evaluation.
“Mr. Erving has been released from the hospital after a comprehensive medical evaluation. He’s expected to make a full recovery and sincerely thanks all of his friends and fans for their well wishes and prayers.”
