A big, broad smile amuses everyone and makes the personality alluring. But to show that smile, you should also have sparkling teeth, otherwise, it can become awkward.

Teeth stain and yellowing is common and is related to age, food habits or damage. Although the latest cosmetic dentistry and tooth-whitening kits can improve it, they use chemicals which many would not like to opt for.

Why Teeth Become Yellow?

Teeth turn yellow due to the development of stains on enamel– the outermost layer of your teeth. If the enamel layer thins, then the yellow layer that lies underneath, known as dentin, starts showing.

Certain factors that are responsible for discoloration or yellowing of the teeth are

  1. Age: Aging can wear down tooth enamel.
  2. Unhealthy diet: Not adequate nutrition
  3. Bad habits: Drinking too much coffee, smoking cigarettes, consuming tobacco

Oil Pulling with Coconut Oil is the safest and most recommended way to use. You have to swish the oil around your mouth for 20minutes to remove bacteria which may also help to whiten the teeth.

2)   Using hydrogen peroxide and baking soda

Hydrogen peroxide is a mild bleach that helps to maintain healthy teeth.  Mix it with baking soda to form toothpaste.

*Note: Limit the usage and do this occasionally.

3)   Eating fruits

Fruit intake is anyhow good for the body. Apples, papaya, strawberries, pineapple may help to whiten the teeth.

4)   Regular Brushing and flossing

Regular Brushing and flossing is good for oral hygiene.

Brushing regularly removes the stain and Flossing helps to remove the bacteria that lead to plaque.

5) Make a few dietary changes

A good healthy diet is always recommended.

  • Limit foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, wine and strictly brush your teeth soon after consumption.
  • Drink a lot of water as it helps to reduce the stain.
